Why Nice Men Don’t Call Back

One of the biggest questions women have about men is “Why didn’t he call back?” The reason(s) may not surprise you if we were talking about insensitive men, but what about men who seem too nice to be that rude?

Here’s what it boils down to:

1.) Men say women go into way too much details about their past relationships. Men don’t want to hear it, even if they ask you to tell them.

2.) Women talk about all the bad things every man did to her. Men hate it when a woman blames them for what some jerk before them did to her.

3.) Women have a chip on their shoulder about men and carries a bit of anger toward all men simply because they’re men.

4.) Women lack some or all the qualities he’s looking for. A woman’s list is usually very long whereas a man’s list is short. For example, if a man is looking for that special woman and his list contains four items, if one item is missing, that’s one-quarter of what he needs. If it’s missing, he’s gone without explanation. As painful as this may sound, it’s true!

5.) She has sex too soon. Yes most men want to get a woman into bed as soon as possible. But if a woman he’s really interested in has sex with him too soon, he quits calling because he figures if she did it with him so easily then . . . .

It’s a double standard of course but this is what men are saying. This list may not be an exhaustive one but hopefully it sheds some light on why men do the frustrating things they do.

To ensure your phone number remains in his speed dial remember these reasons and you will be ahead of the game.

THE SHACK

The Shack is by far the best book I’ve read in a long time. Although I will admit that the beginning was rather long and at times tedious. “For a moment there I thought the author needed to reach a word count goal or something.”  Nevertheless, as the story went on all of those little nuggets the author dropped along the way came together. ”The story unfolded brilliantly!”

The Shack is a work of fiction, but the overall message is very real. I believe God ordained William Paul Young to tell the story this way.  I cannot recall an inspirational author who captures the essence of having a personal relationship with God the way Mr. Young has.

The need to commune with God on a daily basis has been instilled into my heart over the years.  However, Mr. Young has presented that same need in a captivating manner which makes me want to run to God and never let go of Him.

In relatable words and a beautiful story about relationships, trust and forgiveness, the author was able to turn a tragedy into a journey of healing old and fresh wounds.

The Shack is a book I highly recommend as it will challenge your relationships, your belief system and leave you craving for a freedom-filled life that only God can give.

Kudos to Mr. Young as he did an exceptional job of bringing home what it truly means to allow God to live in and through you.

P.S., if you have already read “The Shack,” please post your comments.  I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

NEW YEAR, NEW GOALS

Are you one of those people who make resolutions with good intentions but find yourself struggling to keep them? How long does it take you to make adjustments to your plan(s) before getting back on track? Or do just give up because you missed a couple of days or weeks into your journey?

Many people fall into this trap and I believe it’s due to not having a well thought out plan. Let’s face it, without a plan you are destined for failure. Consider this, have you ever known any athlete to win a competition without a strategy and great discipline? An actor or actress to win an Oscar award without losing themselves into their character? Or a college student graduating with honors without studying and sacrifice? The same goes with making resolutions, you must plan to succeed in order to reap the benefits.

Whether you want to lose those extra pounds you gained over the holidays, kick a habit that has you bond by its control or start off the new year with a different outlook on life, you need a plan! Your plan should be simple and success proof. You also want to make commitments that you have a good chance of keeping. Here are some tips to help you:

Tip No. 1   Focus On a Goal

Start with one major goal. Your major goal has to be attainable and realistic. If your major goal is to lose 30 pounds in six months, you need a plan to get you there.

Tip No. 2  Make a Plan

Put together a strategy to include small steps that will lead up to the major goal. Your small steps to losing 30 pounds could be to lose 1-2 pounds per week by eating right and exercising.

Tip No.3  Make a Recovery Plan

Always have a backup plan. It is normal to fall off track but you must get back on your journey. Stay positive and remain confident that you can make it. Start where you fell off and get going!

Tip No. 4  Reward for Good Behavior

Include a reward system as you go along. When you accomplish several of your small steps, reward yourself with a small purchase or a personal service (manicure or pedicure).

Tip No. 5  Create a Support System

Get others involved to hold you accountable. This is vital to your success as they will keep you motivated and help you when you have a hard time staying afloat. They will also celebrate with you once you’ve accomplished your major goal.

The path to success is not an easy one but it is certainly possible. When you plan to succeed, you will succeed in your plans.

BRING HIS SEXY BACK

Black Man Wearing ScarfHave you made your list and checked it twice, made sure of all those who have been naughty or nice? Christmas is the one holiday where we can feel guiltless buying and exchanging gifts with our families and friends. Children gifts are usually given a lot of attention followed by presents bestowed upon mothers. Unfortunately for men less consideration is given to them as it is often assumed that any electronic gadget would do. However don’t fall into the trap of thinking that old tried and true gift with batteries and a remote control is the only present you can give him.

This year I challenge you to be more selective and consider adding something to complement his wardrobe like a Silk Scarfstylish scarf. Scarves, when worn correctly, look extremely sexy on men. There’s nothing like seeing a man who puts a lot of thought into his attire. When a scarf is added to a man’s wardrobe it completes his ensemble. Whether wearing jeans with a sweater underneath a leather jacket or a nice pair of slacks with a cotton or linen shirt and cuff links. By adding a silk or wool scarf can complement these outfits. Think about it as a hand and glove or like shoes and feet, they are made for each other. The same is true with scarves as they provide the finishing touch to a man’s look.

Justin Wearing ScarfThe choices for buying the right scarf are endless as they come in  different styles, sizes and colors. The average cost for these neat little accent pieces can range from $10.00 – $100.00 or more. Click on this link http://www.complex.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/how-to-tie-scarf-lead.jpg to see how they can be worn so he can create a personal look of his own. Feel free to print this page and enclose it in the gift box. You wouldn’t want to give him a gift he doesn’t know how to wear, right?

This year think outside the box by spicing up his wardrobe and watch him bring his sexy back. He might even start walking with a swagger of confidence knowing he’s looking good because you put more thought into his overall appearance.

MAMA DOWN THE BAYOU

Mama and Her DaughtersThe holiday season is in full effect and planning your family Christmas dinner can be a daunting task. The phone calls, emails and voicemail messages about who is going to bring what, where to find the best prices on food items, and whose home the dinner will be held, is enough to drive anyone crazy.

This year doesn’t have to be like those of the past. Instead, consider spicing things up a bit by introducing new cuisines at your holiday feast. I know it may be a challenge to break away from tradition, but incorporating those neat little dishes you tried throughout the year can be a great way to serve them to the family.

Mama Down the Bayou Recipes may be just what you need to guide you through these uncharted waters. This awesome cookbook shows you how to plan any event whether it be a holiday party, family celebration or special occasion with Southern and Creole Cajun recipes like Okra Gumbo, Crawfish Etoufee’ and Dirty Rice to name a few. Timelines and shopping lists with instructions for preparation are also included.

Vera Richardson, co-author and publisher, along with her sisters, Barbara Whittington and Yvette Scott are natives of Louisiana. They get together every year with their mother, Lillian Batiste, to plan their holiday menu. This has become a tradition over the years which help them save time. The BIG meal is prepared using Mama Down the Bayou southern, Creole-styled recipes.

To their credit, they have spent countless hours to ensure that all bases are covered for you. Therefore, when you follow these well thought out meal plans, you can appear to be a Cajun cuisine connoisseur at your family gathering. As you take your willing participants’ taste buds on a journey to the wonderful delights of southern, Creole-styled cooking, it will surely prove to be an experience they will want to savor year after year.

I invited Vera Richardson to share the process of taking an idea and turning it into a reality. Here is what she had to say:

Sharla: Tell me about your book. How did you come up with the idea?

Vera: Every year my brother drives down to Louisiana to get my mother. We have been doing this for over eight years. Barbara, Yvette, my mother and I schedule several meetings to plan our Christmas get together and lately we have met at Yvette’s house. Two years ago as we were sitting down at Yvette’s, I told everyone this was a book. They all laughed at my idea because they thought it was so far-fetched but I kept pressing the vision. When we had our Christmas dinner that year I started taking plenty of pictures and keeping more detailed notes of what we were doing and how we were getting this accomplished every year. Once my mother, Yvette and Barbara realized I was serious, they came on board and started helping me with the information.

Sharla: How did Mama Down the Bayou get her name?

MamaVera: MAMA-DOWN-DA-BAYOU is the one word term of endearment we called our maternal grandmother. The name of the book glided off my lips the first time I tried to convince everyone this was a book and that the name of the book should be “Mama Down the Bayou Recipes.” I’ve enclosed a picture of my maternal grandmother as a reminder to me of her great legacy.

Sharla: How did you get your sisters and mother interested in this project?

Vera: I had to convince everyone that this was a great idea and we already had most of the information needed to create the book. Once I did all the research to start my publishing company THOU Management, Inc. and set up all the other processes needed to publish a book they knew I was serious and was on board.

Sharla: What question have you always wanted to be asked about this book?
Vera: Can you publish a book for me and where would I be able to buy it? The answers were yes and online! I also have a website THOUManagement.ning.com where you can get more information. The books I’ve published can be ordered from any book store and can be found on Amazon.com and BN.com. I have also published another book this year called Barbara Jean Barbara Jean Poetry – A Silhouette of Me.

Sharla: How would you like your efforts for writing this book to be remembered?

Vera: I would like readers to know that you can do anything if you are willing to work hard for it, do the research and know the business behind your art.
